For a beginning
Pranamya sirasa vishnum trailokydhipatim
prabhum,
Nanasastriddhritam vakshye rajanitisamuccayam.
Translation:
Firstly, I bow my head to Vishnu,
The Preserver Lord of the three-world*; And enunciate the Code
of regal conduct, From numerous scriptures culled.

Faith in the deity
Na
devo vidyate kashthe na pashane na mrinmaye
Bhavo hi vidyate devastasmadbhavo hi karanam.
Translation
:The Deity dwells not in a piece
of wood, In a stone or in a clay-model; In faith
surely
is He, therefore, it's faith, In the Deity which is fundamental.
