is a remedial effort and tries to minimize the effects of
the past Karmas through suitable means. In all cases, Shanti cannot
offer complete protection from evils and cannot be relied on. There
are various methods to confront problems. They are Mantra, Tantra
and Yantra, which are collectively termed as Shanti. These remedies
have been suggested to ward off or minimize the evil effects of
the afflicted planets.
Destiny cannot be altered. Karma refers to one's deeds in the previous
birth, which ultimately decides one's present life. Destiny includes
all actions done in that birth and the results of which one is to
enjoy. One's Destiny may force him to do Shanti and seek complete
protection by preventing the anticipated evil. This may be possible
only to a limited extent.
Shantis are done based on one's
Karma (Dhruda/Adhruda Karma).Shanti can fall into two categories
namely:
- Dhrishta Shanti
- Adhrishta Shanti.
Adhrishta Shanti brings results without the knowledge of the
person. Adhrishta Shanti includes Homams, prayers, pilgrimages,
constructions of hospitals, maternity homes, schools, choultries,
feeding the poor, donating blood, fasting on specified days.
Doshas or Planetary deficiencies
The planets
in one's horoscope represent an integrated and wholesome position
and hence the individual positions of the various planets should
not be considered. Individual planets have their importance and
role but also are part of the entire system of planets positioned
differently in the horoscope. The weakness or deficiency in a
particular planet or few planets affects the horoscope as a whole.
It is lese an expert astrologer brings in his skillful interpretation
and given and analytical presentation this interpretation will
bring forth from the astrologer the evil effects of the deficient
planets vis-à-vis the sound and strongly placed planets. Where
necessary and essential the astrologer in this composite wisdom
has to pinpoint the remedial action (parikara niverthi) and the
modus operandi. If the astrologers fail to do this he will be
shirking in his professional duty and responsibility
