Holistic Perspective
In the ancient texts, it is described that any issue small or big which is unresolved and unattended leads to stress and anxiety. Unattended stress and anxiety leads to over activity of the mind, which in turn leads to vitiation of the vata, especially vyana and in turn affects the rasa dathu and rakta dhatu (blood) and gets manifested in the form of hypertension.

| People suffering from hypertension are prone to bursts of anger and anxiety. A tendency to suppress emotions and inability to own the shadow part of oneself is a common phenomena. Many also suffer from a feeling of helplessness and also have a tendency to procrastinate. |

General Dietary Guidelines
Avoid intake of large amount of sour and salty food stuffs like pickles, curd, junk foods etc… Intake of salt should be regularized.

Preparation
Take the leaves separately. Take away the weeds & grass from it. Wash it well chop it cook it with ghee and very little rock salt. Add a pinch pepper powder for taste. Cook for
5-7 minutes only. If the leaves have bitter, astringent taste or do not have any particular taste cooked green gram (peeled) can be added at the end and mixed well.
Suggested Home Remedies for Hypertension
• Boil 2 pods of garlic with half a glass of milk and this has to be consumed 2 times a day. This reduces the bad cholesterol in the blood
• Boil a handful of thulasi leaves with 2 black peppers in water. This has to be taken in the morning. If needed a pinch of dry ginger (sukku) can be added.
• Boil a handful of thulasi leaves in a glass of milk. Add crushed peppers. Strain it and have it as a drink.
Suggested Asanas and Pranayama
• Padmasana
• Vajrasana with vyana mudra
• Matsyasana
• Yoganidra
• Vyana Poshana Pranayama
Note : All these above mentioned asanas should be done with the doctors guidance.
Meditation
Sit on the ground or chair comfortably with your spine straight.
Be aware of the blood vessels all over your body from head to toe. Now slowly visualise a white light from the centre of the head slowly descending down into the blood vessels,cleansing and stabilizing the space inside the blood vessels till the toes. Continue the deep inhalation and exhalation throughout the meditation.
