High Jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu Wins Silver At Paralympics 2020

An international sports event that grabbed everyone’s attention towards Indian para-athletes keeps us counting India’s medal tally. After the historic win of Sunil Antil on the javelin throw, Mariyappan Thangavelu won silver at the Games.

The Tamil Nadu-born para-athlete began his search for gold in the high jump event. He made a high jump of 1.86 metres to take a silver medal (T42 category) at the international level. Thangavelu shared the podium with his fellow Indian mate, Sharad Kumar, who settled for bronze in the same event.
