Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, Jharkhand

Since it is the same temple, you might have heard it referred to as Baidyanath or Vaijnath. It is located in the state of Jharkhand, in the city of Deoghar. Devotees claim that if anyone sincerely prays here inside, all worries and fears will vanish. He achieves moksha, or redemption, by worshipping here with all his heart. Ravana, the demon king, once meditated for Lord Shiva and invited him to live in his kingdom of Sri Lanka. He attempted to take Kailash mountain with him as a result of this, Lord Shiva cursed him. While on his way to Sri Lanka in search of his wife Sita, Lord Rama stopped at Rameshwaram and drank water from the seashore. He overheard the remark, “How do you drink water without my consent?” After hearing this, Lord Rama built a sand idol and worshipped it, asking for blessings so that he could beat Ravana. Sudharm and Ghusma had a beautiful child, which pleased her parents, but this joy was a thorn in Sudeha’s side. Sudeha threw the baby into a lake without going any further. Sudharm released 101 lingams into the same body of water. He went to the lake after knowing of his missing child and prayed to Lord Shiva to return his son. Lord Shiva appeared with the baby Sudharm had lost after listening to his prayer. Sudeha’s evil deeds were revealed to the Lord when he returned his brother. Instead of having Sudeha punish her, she prayed to God to let her go. Lord Shiva was happy because of Sudharm’s generosity. Sudharm also demanded that God live there in the form of Ghushmeshwar, a Jyotirlinga. The rest is the history.
